ADrive was founded in 2007.
For the most part, it is difficult to call ADrive unique. The application uses many features that are frequently used by other similar applications. However there are a couple of extras that some users may find more appealing. The first is ADrive’s integration with the Zoho document editor. The second is the backup system, which is located in many different physical locations. Should something disastrous happen in one backup location, the user can still access their data.
ADrive is a basic file storage and back up application with a simple, but functional style and layout. The application uses a primarily black, blue and white color scheme that creates an eye-catching contrast. A new user can quickly learn how to navigate the application, although it doesn’t feel entirely streamlined at times. It is hard to understand for new users how the ADrive works.
A visitor can create an ADrive account by clicking the blue “Sign Up” link tucked into the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. The following page asks the user to select their preferred membership plan. Below the plan chart, the user can find the registration form. The form asks for an email address, password, first and last name, country, zip code and how the user found ADrive. Optional fields are available for gender, age range and organization or university name. The user must also successfully enter the number code at the bottom of the form and check the bottom box to confirm their agreement with the ADrive terms and conditions.
ADrive provides users with three account options. The first is a Basic account which includes universal access, 50 GBs of storage space, file sharing tools, folder and directory uploads, file download capabilities, easy search tool, remote file transfers, international character support and integration with the Zoho editor for free. The Signature account costs $6.95 per month or $69.50 per year and includes a 14 day free trial, file history, history recovery, access to the desktop tool, SSL encryption, multiple concurrent sessions and no advertisements. A Premium account is available and starts at around $14 per month or around $140 per year depending on the storage capacity the user selects. Capacity options include 100 GB, 250 GB, 500 GB, 750 GB, 1 TB or 10 TB.
ADrive.com is a tool for experienced users who need a file storage application. It is especially appealing to users who also utilize Zoho tools. The app is hard to understand and only interesting for tech savvy people.
